Accolades & Appreciation is a new section of the weekly Current where Members may wish congratulations to another Member who may have had a recent accomplishment or offer thanks for a kind deed or act of community service. Naperville Running Company Named Store of the Year

Naperville Running Company has been named the 2009 Running Specialty Store of the Year by Formula4Media, hosts of the 2009 Running Event trade show. Store owner Kris Hartner was presented with the award at the “Top 50 Stores” presentation at The Running Event in Austin, Texas on November 11th. The 2009 awards were presented by The Competitor Group.

 

Minuteman Press Welcomes Special Needs Students

Minuteman Press Naperville welcomed two classes of special needs students from Madison Junior High School on Tuesday, November 10th. The students had designed and created holiday greeting cards that will go on sale this month as a fundraiser for the United Way.

 

Local Bookseller Earns Acclaim

As of this month, Anderson’s Bookshops has been operating for 45 years in Naperville and 29 years in the Downers Grove location. This fall has brought more to celebrate for Becky Anderson Wilkins. She was recently named the Voice of the Heartland Award winner by the Great Lakes Independent Booksellers Association, recognizing “a person or company in the book industry for lifetime contributions to regional books.”

 

PGM Wins Three MarCom Awards

Naperville-based marketing company Paul Gregory Media (PGM) has won three MarCom Awards for the branding of Connexus, a community association service company, and for the design of an integrated marketing campaign, “Get Junged” of client Bob Jung Painting and Decorating. PGM also won an honorable mention for “A Perfect Cause”, a non-profit organization created by the founders of Perfect Air, to help local struggling families in today’s economy.

Russell Martin Finalist in Two Award Categories
Russell Martin Carpet and Rugs has been named a finalist for the Loyola Illinois Family Business of the Year. They were honored in both the Small Business Category and the Community Service Category. Russell Martin was the only company to be named as a finalist in two categories.

Inside-Out Painting Company and Handyman Services Earn Partnership Awards
David Lockhart, president of Inside-Out Painting Company, and Mark Mortimer, president of Inside-Out Handyman Services, recently received Partnership Awards from Monarch Landing in Naperville .  Inside-Out Painting Company and Handyman Services serve commercial markets throughout the United States and residential customers in the Chicagoland area.
